Our purpose is to create a simpler, better railway for everyone in Britain.

Who we are

We are the Rail Delivery Group, a membership organisation that works on behalf of the rail industry to create a simpler, better railway for our customers. Our members are the train operating companies that make up the rail industry across Britain.

Railway 200

2025 marks the 200th anniversary of the modern railway.  Through a year-long series of activities and events, Railway 200 will explore how rail shaped Britain and the world, and also look to the future, encouraging more people to take the train and inviting the next generation of pioneering talent to join the railway and become the history-makers of tomorrow.

Committed to improving the UK’s trains

Over the last decade, more than half of all passenger trains have been replaced or refurbished to make journeys more accessible, reliable and comfortable. That’s equivalent to 132-miles placed back-to-back, further than Newcastle to Sheffield, Cardiff to Coventry or 2,300 football pitches.
